We all know very well that the Mozilla’s well-known web browser, of course, Firefox, has been one of the biggest surprises in the field of Internet browsing. Firefox Takes A Big Step Towards Ending Passwords

The Mozilla’s well-known web browser, of course, Firefox, has been one of the biggest surprises in the field of Internet browsing. After a few years with problems and with less attractive behaviours, it has grown with quality and has even taken certain steps to be the best of the day.

The Firefox 60 version now arrived and brings many new features. The biggest of them is the integration of the Web Authentication API, the first step to the end of the passwords in the Mozilla browser.

There are many new features in the new version of Firefox. They are spread over several areas, from the simple user interface to the way we view the pages that the Internet hosts.

Among the many new features of Firefox 60, WebAuthn stands out. With this new API, it becomes possible to use authentication keys, such as Yubikey, on sites and services, eliminating the need for passwords for authentication.

Although it is a radical change in how users authenticate and how they manage their passwords, WebAuthn is still in its infancy and Firefox is, for now, the only browser to support this new standard.

But there is much more inside the new Firefox 60. Another new addition is the arrival of Quantum CSS, which comes to improve and accelerate the way web pages are presented. This new CSS engine is, according to Mozilla, faster than any other and this has advantages for users when presenting web pages.

Also, the new tab is different. Here we can find Mozilla’s proposals and a summary of our navigations. It has more proposals and more information.

In the field of companies, Firefox 60 also brings some news. With this version, there is an Enterprise version, which can be managed centrally, via Group Policy in Windows or manually with a simple JSON file.

It is up to each company and its IT managers to decide whether they want to use the Rapid Release (RR) version, which receives updates and fixes at the same pace as the general release, or the Extended Support Release (ESR) version, which is managed in a more controlled way and at a slower rate.

Firefox for Android has also been upgraded and is now also available in version 60. The novelties here are much smaller but still has weight. Of note is the arrival of the Stylo CSS engine, dedicated to making better use of available resources.

Finally, we have the possibility to see the source code of any page directly from the browser menu. The View Page Source option is now present.

This new version, on all its platforms, is already available. Just need to look for the update in the browser. If you want to install this new version you can do it for Windows, MacOS, Linux or Android.
